I did an oil painting with a shit load of stand oil. it's of my stepsister on the curb of a parking lot at night. I was pretty proud of it considering it was my first honest attempt at oils but when I look at it compared to other's art, it's second rate at the least.

I'm not good at all with oil paint so I'm sure yours out does mine. Since that was your first attempt I'd say that you have lots of time to get better.
